Baby Bouncers & More

I came across a fab baby bouncer that looked like a car in the sale and almost bought but mum said not to as they can cause spinal damage. A quick search on google returned this:

It makes sense really, if they're not walking then they're not designed to be in that upright position - their spine isn't strong enough. I have never been a fan of walkers as I think it makes them too reliant and not figuring it out for themselves. However had never thought about the health implications. I suppose it's down to each individual but we won't be buying any of these - spines are a very important part of the body and I wouldn't want to cause any damage to baby's spine.

Sickness!

I’m almost 16 weeks and am still being sick, took me by surprise yesterday morning at 10:30am – had to rush to the loo at work and was really violently sick, the worst it has been yet.  Oh I will be glad when this sickness is over!

On a positive though I managed to get loads of starry night stuff from ebay over the last few days – curtains, lampshade, cot bedding – really excited to finish off the nursery!

The Cowshed

Mum treated us to a lovely meal at The Cowshed, Pattingham.  However I was a little disappointed with the menu choices.

Being pregnant I can’t eat pate or soft cheese and three of the starters consisted of these options.  Left me with mussels (eurgh!), soup (I have that for lunch every day at work!) or prawns – so I went for the prawns.  They were lovely, served with a sweet chilli linguini which wasn’t too sweet and had a kick to it.  Prawns were cooked perfectly and it was a decent sized portion.

For mains, the lamb and duck both came with a fruit sauce which I don’t like, turkey I had been eating for the past 2 weeks, the chicken was in cream which I am not keen on, fish which was creamy again so I didn’t feel there was much choice with sauces being very similar.  So I went for the veggie option which was roast pepper and goats cheese filo parcels.  These were lovely, huge portion again with a lovely tasty sauce.  We had accompaniments for the table consisting of peas, dauphinoise potatoes and some lovely roast vegetables.  Again plenty of them!

For dessert I almost couldn’t manage one but I went for the lemon posset thinking it would be small and light, it wasn’t it was huge but it was delicious!!  My hubby had baileys chocolate tart of which I stole some and that too was divine!

I love the restaurant, never had a bad meal, and for somewhere that is a bit pricey and makes the food look pretty they still serve decent portions.

Is the grass greener?

Clee had his first night out last night, he has a cat flap into the garage so he has a safe haven and a bed if he needs it.  He has slept all day long today, he’s absolutely shattered!  It’s such a relief when you first put them out and they come back safely – phew!!

Nursery

I decided quite early on I wanted Babies R Us Starry Nights as our theme, I love Winnie the Pooh and the white and grey is so classy.  So we have painted the nursery two shades of grey to match, we will have laminate floor and dark wood furniture.  The only thing Starry Nights we have so far though is the Moses Basket!
